Ghana Flights
So you’ve decided to go on the trip of a lifetime to Ghana; one of the first things which needs to be decided is how you’re going to get there. Flying into Ghana is clearly the most obvious, and most sensible, option; sailing might give your trip an intrepid, adventurous feel, but it will take an awful lot longer.
All U.K flights to Ghana head to the country’s capital, Accra, and if you want to get out of the city once you arrive there, there are a small number of internal flights which will be able to transfer you on to different Ghanaian destinations. British Airways and Ghana International are the two biggest companies which offer people the chance to make the U.K-Ghanaian trip, with a less frequent service also being offered by Flystar . The best place to depart from is, perhaps obviously, London, with flights available from Gatwick and Heathrow. For those of you over the border in Scotland, flights can be picked up from Edinburgh, Glasgow and even Aberdeen (however these all travel via Heathrow on their way to the West African country).
Flights seem to range from around £230-£330 each way; although if you’re wanting to upgrade yourself and live the high life then you could pay anything up to nearly £4000; but then would you be able to afford all the incredible shopping which is on offer and which is dealt with in another link on this website?
If you’ve arrived in Accra, and are preparing to travel on to another internal destination, you should be prepared for the fact that everything might not run quite as smoothly as you might like. The airlines which operate these internal flights have been reported to sometimes change pre-scheduled stops, cancel flights at short notice and flights can quite often become overbooked. Even after you’ve checked in, you may not be immune to sudden delays; however this shouldn’t put you off attempting to fly internally in Ghana. It would be prudent, though, to make allowances for the fact that you might need to pay for extra food and lodgings if, for whatever reason, you cannot fly out at the time you were expecting to.
Ghana’s Civil Aviation Authority has been judged by the U.S Federal Aviation Administration to be in compliance with the standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organisation, which is always reassuring to know!
